Rolex Daytona Cosmograph for Sale
August 7th, 2010Rolex’s In a Time Capsule
July 21st, 2010It’s not uncommon for the most unusual and exciting things to come through our door (Einstein’s Watch, John Wayne’s Jewelry, etc) and this piece is no exception. Originally Purchased overseas in 1959, this “His and Hers” Rolex collection is a true rarity. Both watches are 14K Yellow Gold.
The reason I suggest these were in a time capsule is because they almost literally were. After being purchased in 1959 they were worn very briefly (evidenced by the wear on the sticker) and put into a safe never to appear again until now.

All the original tags are still on the watch which is highly unusual, and the box is in mint condition.
Hands down this is the most unusual and unique Rolex find we’ve had in. Not the most expensive (the Paul Newman Daytona still holds that record) but a true once in a lifetime find for that serious Rolex collector. Feel free to call us for prices and availability at 949-673-0365.
The most romantic custom wedding ring ever?
July 21st, 2010Imagine being married to an engineer, obsessing over little details, always aware of the intricacies of how things work. Now imagine this engineer spouse of yours combined their powers into creating a one of a kind wedding ring and voila, you have the projector ring.
Luke Jarram the designer worked with Jeweler Tamrakar to create a ring that houses several small photos set opposite a lens. When the lens is exposed to a light source the pictures are projected, bringing the love of your life with you wherever you go. Interchangeable photos, and a modern stylish look make this ring not only an amazing invention, but incredibly functional as well for an everyday piece of jewelry.
Will we be seeing this design on a larger scale? I think so, with the up and coming generations getting more and more creative with their wedding rings and moving away from the traditional diamond, I believe designs like this will have a place in the bridal jewelry market for years to come. However when asked to make this ring for other people’s engagements his reply was “Congratulations on your engagement! I’m afraid this ring was a one off, made for my wife. I’m afraid you’ll have to make your own unique ring for your own unique partner!”

Pre-Owned Luxury Watches as Investments?
July 8th, 2010Here’s a really great interview done with Julien Schaerer of Antiquorum discussing the advantages of purchasing a Pre-Owned timepiece versus a brand new one. What he says here is 100% accurate. Buying a brand new watch is exactly like buying a car, it loses value the minute you take it off the lot. Certain brands such as Rolex for example lose their value slower, as they are in very high demand in the Pre-Owned market.
However take caution when buying a pre-owned watch. Know who your buying it from, and make sure they are reputable and will supply you with a warranty and a return policy. Fake watches are made so well these days that it is impossible to tell the difference unless a very skilled watchmaker opens the piece up and dissects it.
Keep in mind as well how strong the second hand market is for the particular brand of watch you intend to buy. Some amazing and significant swiss brands are very expensive yet cannot even get half of their value on the pre-owned market.
Our philosophy is if you love it, buy it and wear it. Don’t get too hung up on the financials. If it’s the right piece you’ll never want to sell it anyways.

May 29th, 2010Watch of the Month: Men’s Rolex Pepsi GMT Master
April 29th, 2010
One of the great parts of this job is getting our hands on fine time pieces. Our ever growing watch inventory boasts the old, the new and everything in between. For this month, we feature a classic: Men’s Stainless Rolex GMT Master with “Pepsi” Blue and Red Bezel.
Most notable features of this piece are it’s rarity and condition. The Rolex GMT Master Model No. 16750 ran from 1981-1988, and signified a few changes in function and styling. It is one of the first models to feature the quick-set date adjustment and of course offers a 24-hour timekeeping hand.
Further specifications on this late 1980′s example note:
27 jewels, sweep centre seconds, GMT hand, date display, three-part case, brushed and polished, acrylic crystal with magnified lens, revolving 24-hour bezel, screw down case back, Rolex Oyster bracelet, case, dial and movement signed
Rolex was originally commissioned by airline giant Pan American to construct a pilots watch for trans-continental flights – during which, a 24-hour movement would come in handy. The first known GMT’s were distributed exclusively to Pan Am aviators in 1954, then sold to the public as, “an excellent traveler’s companion.”
The watch was just serviced by Rolex and is keeping perfect time. It comes with a service record, Rolex Box and 1 Year Warranty. In addition to the GMT, we’ve stocked up on a healthy inventory of Men’s and Ladies’ Rolex models. For specific model inquiries, contact us and we’d be happy to check availability!

Diamond Imports Up for Q1 – Prices Equalizing
April 20th, 2010Diamond wholesalers reported an estimated 391% increase in imports brought into the U.S. the month of February, in what some see as a bell-weather for a luxury market rebound.
According to an article released this morning on Reuters India the influx of inventory should give new diamond customers an increased range of choices uncommon in years past. Stores and customers alike can look forward to an attractive supply in the next sales quarter and the article quoted diamond consultant Charles Wyndham saying, “a (price) correction would be temporary and then things will pick up … the trend lines remain positive, very positive,”
The International Diamond and Jewelry Exchange (IDEX.com) measures inventory fluctuations within the industry. Its online report showed stagnant percentages May – November 2009 starkly contrasted by a steady 5% increase in demand December 09-April 2010.
In the mean time, Estate inventory and prices remain very competitive. To back up demand, we’ve recently stocked a healthy supply of 1ct – 2.5ct stones in our showroom cases, among a colorful array of gemstones and vintage pieces.
